Chris Thompson and Lily Partridge have been selected to lead the British team at the World Athletics Half Marathon Championships after their victories in the British Half Marathon Championships at The Vitality Big Half.
Thompson finished second to Kenenisa Bekele in the elite men's race, but claimed the British title in a time of 61:07 on Sunday 1 March.
The 38-year-old Briton earns his first British vest on the road, 22 years after making his track debut at the World Junior Championships. He will be joined in the men's team by Jake Smith, who finished third overall at The Vitality Big Half, and Joshua Griffiths, who placed eighth.
Partridge saw off competition from Samantha Harrison to win the elite women's race at The Vitality Big Half, recording a time of 70:50.
Runner-up Harrison of Notts AC has also been selected for the British team, alongside Stephanie Davis and Hayley Carruthers, who completed the top four in Greenwich.
Having finished as the third and fourth British athletes home at the trial, both Ross Millington and Mohamud Aadan declined selection for the championship.
The championships take place in Gdynia, Poland, on Sunday 29 March.
